We didn’t have a choice in the matter. We were born on this earth with skin darker than others and we wore it with pride. We didn’t ask to be slaves. We didn’t ask for constant targets to be placed on our backs. All we ever did was be BLACK. And if being Black meant that we would be oppressed for hundreds of years even after supposedly conquering freedom, then I am sure the choice will and would remain the same. – A Brown Belle Exchange

The last 72 hours have been exhausting to say the least. The country that we live in has been in an uproar (once again) due to the slaughter of Black Men.
I used the word slaughter, because that’s exactly the term that fits best. The killing of a large number of people or animals in a cruel or violent way.
The large number of people being Black individuals (men predominately) and the violent cruel way, is at the hands of Police officers by way of gun fire or excessive force.
Alton Sterling. Philando Castile. Sandra Bland. Tamir Rice. Freddie Gray. Mike Brown. Walter Scott. Eric Garner. Laquan McDonald. Sean Bell.
The names are endless. It’s a sad reality that is all to familiar.
